Lesson 29 – ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE

Organization culture is the invisible backbone of any company. It is the shared values, beliefs, and behaviours that shape “how things are done here.” Peter Drucker’s famous words “Culture eats strategy for breakfast” remind us that even the most brilliant plans will fail if the culture does not support them.

In the Ramayana, the Vanara Sena under Sugriva’s leadership is a shining example of a strong, value-driven culture. This army was not made of elite warriors alone — it was a diverse group of monkeys, bears, and other allies from different backgrounds, each with unique strengths and weaknesses.

Strategy may set the path, but culture fuels the journey. Just like Rama’s Vanara Sena, when your team shares a strong purpose and trust, no ocean is too wide, no challenge too great

What made them unstoppable was not just strategy but a shared sense of purpose — to rescue Sita and defeat Ravana. Rama’s leadership fostered trust, loyalty, and respect. Hanuman was entrusted with the crucial mission to find Sita. Angada was empowered to lead diplomatic talks. Every member knew their role, believed in the cause, and gave their best.

This is the power of organizational culture — when people believe in the mission, align with the values, and trust their leaders, they will go beyond their limits. Just as the Vanara Sena crossed oceans, battled demons, and overcame impossible odds, a united organizational culture can carry a company through any challenge.

A great culture doesn’t happen by accident — it is built, nurtured, and lived every day. Strategies may win a battle, but it is culture that wins the war.
