Delegation is a core concept in management leadership. It is the act of assigning a specific task or purpose to a person or group of people. It not only involves assigning tasks but also the responsibility and authority to carry out the assigned activities.
In Ramayana, we move into Yuddha Kanda, the last chapter that describes the entry of Rama and his army into Lanka and the battle between Rama and Ravana. It begins with the fear that Ravana develops when he learns about the strength of Rama and his army, who penetrated his kingdom by crossing the ocean.
He called for a meeting and began to consult each of them on what to do. Everyone confronted him, saying that this consultation should have been done before he abducted Sita, and none would have supported his decision.

Now, the only way out was to defend against Rama and his army. All his brothers, ministers, and sons promised that they would support him and take their roles in combating Rama.
After the meeting, he instructed Prahastha, the chief of his army, to defend the city of Lanka carefully. He ordered, “Oh Commander, you are allowed to issue orders to see that well-trained warriors belonging to the four divisions—Cavalry, Infantry, Chariots, and Elephants—are entrusted with the defense of our kingdom.”
As per this delegation of responsibility to guard Lanka by Ravana, Prahastha positioned the army for defense accordingly at suitable places both inside and outside the city.
It is through the order from a superior that people take up responsibilities and ensure that they are executed as per norms or policies.
