I love learning management jargons, terminologies and application of some statements to management. These days I kept on reading about business articles from various sources.

There I learnt about the black swan, felt very interesting and tried to understand what a black swan is.

The term Black Swan originated from the Western belief that all swans are white because these were the only ones accounted for.

In 1697 the Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh discovered black swans in Australia. This was an unexpected event in scientific history and profoundly changed zoology.

Hence, A Black swan is an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normally expected of a situation and has potentially severe consequences. Black swan events are characterized by their extreme rarity, their severe impact, and the widespread insistence they were obvious in hindsight.

Black swan events include the rise of the Internet, the personal computer, World War I, the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The Novel corona virus spread through out the world can also be called as a black swan, as it is a pandemic that hit the earth with high severity leading to uncertainties about business & life and gave us lot of new experiences , one of them is the forced lock down itself.
