It's lock down time, I was working from home - 9.30 to 5.30. Earlier I used to visit my best friend in the apartment during evenings. We meet eachother often as our husbands are in to jobs that require lot of travelling and they will be away from home for several days.
During this lockdown period residents were restricted to go down to prevent social gathering by ladies, kids etc. I was looking down from my balcony and there he is the performer of a popular paint company, my friend's hubby killing time on phone.
I remembered the reward strategy used by his company to flatter his wife few months behind. She took me home that day with great happiness to show me the surprise gift. I appreciate the company's initiative in making a woman's day happy by sending her a gift by courier. Only I could get the feel of my friend's excitement, wonder and recognition she experienced.
It was a surprise for her receiving a courier in her name, she opened the box with a doubtful face, "who could have send this !"? She opened the box to pull out a beautiful vanity bag, attached to it a red satin cloth tied with a pink ribbon. She opened it to find a letter addressed to her signed by CEO of the company where her husband worked. Her eyes were filled with tears of joy as she read on.
That was the first time in her life she got an appreciation. The company recognized and congratulated saying that without her support her husband wouldn't have performed and achieved his targets par excellence.
This was victory for her. I could sense her pride, the feeling of being a superb wife of a performer and it was the space that she allowed to him led to his achievements. This was a wonderfully planned strategy and I was really happy to see some one in delight. Extreme delight for being recognized. It was not the vanity bag that gave her happiness but few words that touched her heart and made her feel she is great.
Some memory I cherished for few minutes during one of the corona days. And that was the story of a surprise gift. Small things make big imprints and add beauty to life.
