We have studied about Stone Age, Bronze Age & Iron Age, the tripartite divisions of historoc time periods. This is Drone Age. Bit scary, drone also has three letters "ron" which is there in corona too. Anyway what is interesting about drone is that, i happened to read a news today morning. People who went for morning walk at Panampilly Nagar in Kochi violating Covid 19 lockdown were identified in drone surveillance and were arrested.

Drones have become an efficient and effective instrument for surveillance of flood, people violating rules, vehicle tracking, door delivery of products etc. They fly above our heads at celebration venues, they are used to capture images from aerial view, they assist in showing a path etc.

We must know this fact. Who is the father of drone?

Abraham Karem was born in Baghdad to a Jewish couple. His family moved to Israel in 1951, where he grew up. Since an early age, he had an innate passion for aeronautics, and at the age of 14, he started building model aircraft. Karem is regarded as the founding father of UAV (drone) technology.

A drone is a flying robot that can be remotely controlled or it can fly autonomously through software-controlled flight plans in their embedded systems, works in conjunction with onboard sensors and GPS.

The technological groundwork was first established by genius inventor Nikola Tesla, who introduced radio-control technology at Madison Square Garden in 1898.

How interesting it is. Have we ever thought that this kind of a technology will become so common in our lives. Be ware, it can follow us anywhere and do spy work.

Thus any thing is possible with the help of drone starting from warfare, commercial aerial surveillance, oil, gas and mineral exploration, disaster relief, real estate purposes and recreational uses. This is why we call it Drone Age.
