In every organization, we find groups and teams that work together to accomplish a common goal. Need not be an organization always, it can be a team formed to accomplish a particular mission, a group that is formed as part of a game or sports, be it anything, the team lead or so called manager will have the responsibility to lead the team and evaluate their performance.

Assigning duties and responsibilities, delegation of tasks, monitoring, reviewing, evaluating all form some of the Key responsibilities of the managers.

These so called managers must have the eligibility to evaluate a team member's performance as well, then only their role become complete and effective because it is based on this evaluation feedback is given to the team member.

This is one of the important aspect in Human Resource Management. Growth of a team member largely depend on feedback that he or she receives. Acknowledging a work itself motivates them to perform better.

What qualities are required for evaluating a team member?

1. Team lead must know the work, if they doesn't know, he or she will never be able to comment on it.

2. Team lead must have knowledge to identify errors if any. Then only constructive feedback can be given to correct it.

3. Team lead must have experience doing it or experiencing it, then only they will be able to appreciate or critically assess the team member.

4. Team lead must be able to correct the mistakes made by team member if any, simply saying something is wrong will not help the peers or team members to improve.

5. Objective of evaluation must be to give right feedback that will inspire the team member to improve further.

6. Team lead must ensure that when the team member does same thing (repetitive or recurring job) there must be some improvement or newness brought in to the work each time it is repeated. Team lead's encouragement and interest shown in receiving the output from team members make them enthusiastic and bring creativity at work.

7. Team leaders must not be biased during evaluation. They must do the assessment objectively. #evaluation #performancereview #teammemberappraisal #teammassessment

Whenever I come across a meaningful realization or a thought-provoking idea, I feel compelled to share it. My writings are intended for entrepreneurs, students, management enthusiasts, and anyone curious about how management theories and principles can be practically and effectively applied to both life and work — presented in a simplified and relatable manner.
