Career is an occupation undertaken by a person for a significant period in life and look for opportunities to progress.

Whatever field you are in to, it is the progress you make takes you towards growth. People do several things to move ahead in their career. One of the common practices is new learning, keeping themselves updated about what is happening in general and with respect to their stream of work and with regard to technology advancements.

Here are three factors that influence one's career growth. Growth refers to development. A positive change or increase in knowledge or skill or the ability to apply one's knowledge at the right place at the right time.

The three E's influence the change and they are Education, Experience and Exposure.

ree

Education: It is all about the things you learned ever since from primary level up to professional level. What one studied in school, in college, in professional courses, value addition courses, trainings attended, everything influences the thought process. Education does not mean formal way of learning alone, it also include what one learned by reading books, watching movies, listening stories and what is being taught or explained to by others who came across in life. People keep learning to improve knowledge to assure that they grow by applying new learnings in their career. This of course leads to career growth.

Experience: Experience counts only with time. The number of times one gets opportunity to do something or number of things one did during a time period calculates the experience. The more number of times something is practiced, it becomes experience because efficiency increases here. The less time taken to do a complicated task rightly or the the time taken to arrive at a right decision or the less effort put to solve a problem is a result of experience in a particular domain.

Exposure: This is highly relevant because, one's knowledge and experience can be applied only when they get exposed to situations where it can be applied. As long as one does not get opportunity to prove their ability, knowledge and efficiency remain silent. Exposure does not come to us. It is available only to those who seek for it. People who seek new opportunities, people who take up new roles, those who travel to different places, those who try new ways of working, those who accept challenges, those who set vision to climb heights get exposed because they are on their way to get exposed themselves to new arenas. They learn more, they experience more and here they try applying their knowledge to suit the prevailing situations.

Thus learning is a never ending process as this is not forced learning. It is the mindset to adapt to new situations that makes the person learn new things adding to their educational levels and enhance experiences. Exposure makes one brilliant and brisk throughout their life.
